On your profile
A sentence or two is plenty.
Say that you're vegan and, if you like, what it means to you: animals, the planet, your health, or simply the way you've always eaten. It helps the right people find you and saves explaining later.
- Keep it positive. Talk about what you love, such as cooking, a favourite café or a recipe you're proud of.
- Be clear about what matters. If you'd only date someone vegan, or you're happy to date someone who isn't, it's fine to say so.
In early messages
Let it come up naturally.
Food is one of the easiest things to talk about, so it often comes up on its own. Ask about their favourite places to eat or what they cook, and share your own.
On a first date
- Choose somewhere you'll both enjoy. Our vegan first date ideas can help.
- Be curious, not critical. Ask how they got here and what it means to them, and listen to the answer.
- Save the big debates for later. There's plenty of time once you know each other.
If they're not vegan
That's for you to decide. Our guide on dating someone who isn't vegan looks at what to think about.
